One of NAPM’s key strategic focus areas is working to leverage the use of technology to add intelligence to the mail and mail processes, thereby increasing the value of mail, decreasing costs by supporting better efficiency, and opening the door to more value-added postal products and services.
Here are just a few of the current initiatives that NAPM is working on in this focus area:
Full-Service IMb Pricing. It is critical that initiatives that bring intelligence to the mail supply chain, such as Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb) Full-Service, remain attractive and affordable to users of the mail. In order for the USPS and industry to gain sufficient data to improve efficiency and reduce costs, there must be sufficient incentive for intelligent mail offerings to attract and retain users.
IMb Full-Service pricing is a critical component to the future success of the offering. NAPM is working to communicate to the USPS and postal regulators the importance of a well thought out pricing structure for IMb Full-Service that will incent growth and adoption.
By/For Requirements. NAPM is working to get clarification from the USPS on the by/for data delegation requirements for IMb Full-Service mailings to take effect January 2014.
Electronic Documentation. NAPM identifies and works with the USPS on changes in mail preparation rules that enable new technologies such as those built on electronic documentation.
